About the Author

Richard Webster was born and raised in New Zealand. He has been interested in the psychic world since he was nine years old. As a teenager, he became involved in hypnotism and later became a professional stage hypnotist. After school, he worked in the publishing business and purchased a bookstore. The concept of reincarnation played a significant role in his decision to become a past-life specialist. Richard has also taught psychic development classes, which are based on many of his books.

Richard's first book was published in 1972, fulfilling a childhood dream of becoming an author. Richard is now the author of over a hundred books, and is still writing today. His best-selling books include Spirit Guides & Angel Guardians and Creative Visualization for Beginners. 

Richard has appeared on several radio and TV programs in the United States and abroad including guest spots on Hard Copy, WMAQ-TV (Chicago), KTLA-TV (Los Angeles), KSTW-TV (Seattle) and the Mike and Matty Show (ABC). He currently resides in New Zealand with his wife and three children. He regularly travels the world to give lectures, workshops and to continue his research.

About the Author

Thomas J. Sullivan is Professor Emeritus of Sociology and Social Work at Northern Michigan University, specializing in social psychology, research methods, applied sociology, and medical sociology. He earned his undergraduate degree in sociology from San Francisco State University and his M.A. and Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He is the author of Sociology: Concepts and Applications in a Diverse World, 8th ed. (Allyn & Bacon, 2009), Methods of Social Research (Wadsworth, 2001), and Applied Sociology: Research and Critical Thinking (Allyn & Bacon, 1992); he is the co-author of Applied Social Research: Tool for the Human Services, 9th ed. (Brooks/Cole Cengage Learning, 2014). Sullivan has published articles in Social Science and Medicine and Humboldt Journal of Social Relations. His applied research has focused on evaluation research of social service delivery in elementary schools and of teen pregnancy prevention and intervention services. He has served in various elected and appointed positions for the American Sociological Association, the Society for Applied Sociology, and the Midwest Sociological Society.

EXCELLENT Read!!

This book is older, but highly informative!! I met my bio father in my late 20's, but never heard of GSA until I was in my 30's, when a doctor mentioned this book to me. Although my father and I have not had to deal with GSA, I did find the topic very interesting.

The book is written by a woman who met her son after he was grown, and experienced GSA. While she tells her story, there are also many short stories included from others who have experienced GSA.

I highly recommend this book for anyone who has met, or has plans to meet a biological family member for the first time in adulthood. I think it is very important for people who are in a situation where GSA may arise to be fully informed.

Needed knowledge

Just a quick note about this book, 'The Kitchen Table Book'. I'm one who grew up with a grandmother, that was raised in the country and in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Dr's were either not available or came at a premium. Hence, a lot of 'cures' came from home remedies and basic nutrition. This book shows in detail the benefits from the foods and spices we normally consume. It fits very well with what my grandmother was raised with and what she imparted to us along the way. It is the kind of book that should be on every kitchen table and followed as to daily nutrition. By utilizing the knowledge found in these pages, one should be able to reduce the need for doctor visits, with the exception of catastrophic events. By understanding the health benefits for the various foods, most people should be able to maintain good health without the use of supplements and multiple, doctor-prescribed medications. This book is a great guide towards that goal.

From the very first page you'll be hooked in; there are surprising therapeutic uses for pretty much every staple you have in your pantry and fridge. I took the time to research several of the items that were recommended and found substantial documentation to back up the recommendations, medical abstracts & studies etc. I am not a fan of books that pimp supplements or vits or certain alleged superfoods that are based on he-said/she-said non-factual hype. PreS?Clever, colorful photo-collage illustrations feature a cheerful African American girl in an appealing urban landscape. Her summer day activities include an unsuccessful effort to fry an egg on the sidewalk (it's not quite that hot), a brief visit to the local playground (it's definitely too hot to sit on the shiny metal swings), and the messy fun of eating two grape popsicles in a row. The first-person narrative is filled with short, declarative sentences that are convincingly childlike. Changes in the placement of the text as well as in the art keep the book interesting and fresh. Particularly effective double-page spreads include one in which "...mother tells me to play inside games." The accompanying collage is cut into jigsaw-puzzle shapes, and another features splashing raindrops in various shades of blue. Ages 2^-5. Using collage, Crews translates the mental images of her own hot childhood summers into a sensorial feast for preschoolers. "It's summer, and it's hot," the book begins, "Dogs pant. Hydrants are open. Women carry umbrellas for the shade." Crews illustrates these symbols of summer using cutout photographic images mounted on related scenes. For example, for the above quote, clipped shots of an African American girl (the protagonist), a panting dog, and two women holding umbrellas in front of a store are superimposed on a street-scene photo of a spewing hydrant. Although the connections are predictable, the jumble of perspectives is refreshing. Finally, the day's sizzling images give way to the relief of grape popsicles and a cooling rainstorm. Especially relevant to urban libraries, this book provides many opportunities to discuss the senses and the unique experience of summer in the city. Julie Yates Walton

Makes me nostalgic for my urban childhood

Beautiful pictures that resonate for urban dwellers and lovely lyrical prose. I never grow tired of reading this one with my soon to be three year old.

Delilghtfully Hot Book!

I loved Nina Crews' collage artwork depicting the hotness of summer in the city. The images were incredibly colorful and I wanted to explore all the details in the pictures. The little girl in purple whom the author used as the subject is absolutely adodrable! Her smile just lights you up and you can just imagine all the fun she is having.
Nina lets the reader experience many emotions while reading this book! One cannot help it!
This is a delightful book for pre-schoolers and a first grader could read this with maybe a tad bit of help with some of the words.
This mother thoroughly recommends this book for your pre-schoolers!

A great summer treat for your 3-5 year old!

Nina Crews' photographs combine the beautiful with the mundane to create a story to which all children can relate. We loved the contrast of the urban blacktop with the bright crisp green leaves, the little girl floating/dancing on raindrops, etc. There's always something new to discover in the photos. This is a talented new children's writer. It's evident that such talent is in her blood!

Fun, quick read!

The story isn't flawless, but it does have excellent characters, and a realness that many stories in the genre lack. The characters are believable and the relationship represented in the story is very sweet as well as hot. If you like your ration of passion with a little bit of innocent discovery, this is a great choice!
