Decent history of black leather jackets

If you want a pretty thorough history of the black leather jacket, this is a pretty good read. It has a definite British slant to it, but still acknowledges American contributions like Marlon Brando, James Dean, Harleys, etc. If you want something on other types of leather wear, sorry, you won't find it here. I was hoping there would be coverage of horsehide bomber jackets, i.e., A-2 World War II vintage, but there is scant mention of the subject. You'll have to look elsewhere if that's your interest. There are good black and white photos of various leather gear and subculture types from 50's bikers to new age rockers. A worthwhile purchase in my opinion.

Great book by Tanaka, who runs the great "Inspiration" vintage shows. If you're into vintage look for his other books too.
If you're into vintage motorcycle wear then this and it's companion book are a must.

A detailed book, good for a Dietitian, overkill for an LPN student!

Let's face it, as LPN students, Nutrition class isn't the greatest class we have to take but that's out of our control as the State Board of Nursing requires us to take this type of course. Honestly, as nurses, we will rarely be using any of the information in this book.

This is why hospitals, nursing homes, and skilled care facilities have Registered Dietitians on staff. They take more than a single class on nutrition and they are the ones most qualified to discuss nutrition with our patients.

That said, the book is VERY detailed and provides a lot of information starting from the very basic building blocks of nutrients and working its way up to complex diet regimes. If you're taking Anatomy & Physiology at the same time, some of the info in this book will mesh with what you're learning in that class so they compliment each other well.

I bought this book new but now i wish I would have found a cheaper used version as my book already looks very used after just a month of it in and out of my messenger bag. Overall, a good book, but all you LPN students already know, this is NOT going to be in our job description, at least not at this specific of a level.

For $25 one would have expected the condition of the book to be relatively good. I am a student and I work as well so finding books that are less expensive than the new ones but have the ALL the relevant information is a bonus. This book got 3 stars only because it had no loose leaves. However both covers were bent and it had evidence of water marks.

About the Author
DAVID LILJA received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is currently a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering , and a Fellow of the Minnesota Supercomputing Institute, at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. He also serves as a member of the graduate faculties in Computer Science and Scientific Computation, and was the founding Director of Graduate Studies for Computer Engineering. He has served on the program committees of numerous conferences and as associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Computers. David is a Senior member of the IEEE and a member of the ACM.

SACHIN SAPATNEKAR received his PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Currently, he is the Robert and Marjorie Henle Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Minnesota, and serves on the graduate faculty in Computer Science and Engineering. He has served as Associate Editor for several IEEE journals, a distinguished visitor for the IEEE Computer Society and a distinguished lecturer for the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society. He is a recipient of the NSF Career Award and the SRC Technical Excellence Award. He is a Fellow of the IEEE and a member of the ACM.

do not waste your money

The author claims that he covered in this book what other test books failed to do. He claims that this book can be used to design a processor from start to finish. Unfortunately I bought this book and was hoping to find a detailed explanation on how to design a mini processor. After reviewing the book, I concluded that this book is a waste of money and time. For example, the book talks too much about verilog basics but did not provide a block diagram or a top level for the VeSPA processor which is used in the book. For the money I paid I was expecting to find a useful example of a mini processor design.

Too incomplete.

Unfortunately, this book is more of an overview book. Don't expect to get any of the subjects presented fully explained. Some of the really important topics (like hazard detection) are only briefly mentioned. For the price it should have been at least twice as big and much more detailed.

Ken Grimwood's earlier time-travel novel.

I also checked this out from the library after reading Replay, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The basic premise was: A woman suffering from epilepsy has an experimental procedure performed on her in order to help lessen the severity of the seizures. But a strange side effect occurs when she tries it -- she sees through the eyes of another woman. She feels what the woman is feeling. The interesting part was that the woman lived about 100 years ago, she's a prostitute, and she is a maniac. Murder. Intrigue. Time travel. A great twist at the end. This book deserves to be in print. Check your local library.

If you enjoyed "Replay" and are considering springing for an overpriced used copy online--as I did--don't. This book's feeble in both its plot and writing style, and will seriously disappoint "Replay" fans.

I read this book because I loved Replay and I thought this one was just okay. The story starting out interesting but I just hated the ending. I felt sorry for the husband and the other good characters and felt let down at the ending. I thought this book would be better than it was. Don't buy the book.
